OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY Fox TV Stations
FOX Television Stations (FTS) owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations, including stations in 14 of the top 15 markets and duopolies in 11. Eighteen are FOX Network affiliates, and together the stations produce approximately 1,300 hours of local news every week. FOX LOCAL, the company's free ad-supported digital and streaming product, extends that news, weather and local content across connected TV & mobile devices. LiveNOW from FOX expands the FTS portfolio even further as the only national streaming services to be truly live 24/7, covering breaking news and events as they happen.
JOB DESCRIPTION WJBK (Fox 2 Detroit) is seeking a versatile News Reporter who brings hustle, originality, innovations, and commitment to the job every day. The ideal candidate will be expected to establish contacts and develop original story ideas. Must write and report with fairness and clarity and be an outstanding storyteller and on-air performer. Must have demonstrated proficiency in the use of social media to interact with news viewers and expand the reach of our news operation. We require an individual who communicates with a diverse audience in a concise yet comfortable manner. This person will be able to recognize important issues and meaningful developments in continuing stories. The job requires composure in breaking news situations and command of a spectrum of topics including hard news, entertainment, and popular culture. Knowledge of the Detroit market a plus. Other duties as deemed appropriate to be assigned.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Key Responsibilities - Reporting & Storytelling: Develop original story ideas, establish local contacts, and report complex topics-ranging from hard news to entertainment-with fairness, clarity, and composure under breaking news pressure.
- Audience Engagement: Communicate comfortably with a diverse audience and leverage social media platforms to interact with viewers and broaden the station's digital reach.
- Continuing Coverage: Track ongoing stories to spot new, meaningful developments and contextualize key market issues.
- Content Generation: Pitch story ideas, participate in daily editorial meetings, and contribute to station-wide story selection.
- Multi-Platform Reporting: Research, write, and report stories tailored for linear broadcast, streaming and digital channels.
- Community Engagement: Represent the station professionally to foster trust and build relationships within the community.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED Required Qualifications & Expertise - Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcast journalism or a related field of study is preferred. Candidate must be a team player and available to work flexible hours including holidays.
- Experience: 3+ years experience writing and researching news required.
- Core Competencies: Candidate must demonstrate strong writing skills and great knowledge of current events.
- Domain Knowledge: Candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills in both newsroom interaction and storytelling. Ideal candidate demonstrates vast knowledge of social media trends and best practices.
- Flexibility: Strong team-player mindset with the ability to work non-traditional hours, including holidays, weekends, and dynamic field schedules.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $38.46-43.27 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
